Nothing is worse then shelling out money for a product than ends up being less then stellar. It certainly makes it hard to justify buying a pricey product. Your best bet is to try to get a sample before you buy or to check out reviews like mine to see what real people think of the latest miracle cream. But if you bought a product you don’t like, what can you do?
I found this handy article that rates a whole lot of retailers on their return policy as well as gives specifics on what their return policy is (Do you need a receipt? How many days do you have? Etc.)

It might make a difference in where you decide to spend your hard earned cash.
Around this time of the winter, I start longing for a tropical vacation. I’d return tan and radiant! Then I look in the mirror and see dull hair (did it really get darker?!?) and dull, pale skin. Self tanner helps and so does changing up my make up. But the hair color still seems to wash me out.
In desperate times like these, I tend to jump on quick, rash solutions - many of which I regret. So when I caught myself looking at the haircolor aisle and contemplating if I could pull off being a redhead (a mistake I make once, ending up with neon pink hair, but somehow forgot in this moment), I decided to try something a little less drastic and a lot more temporary.
When I’ve lived and traveled in Europe, I always picked up single use packets of temporary, wash out hair color. While the brands and shade options are inexpensive and abundant there, we Yanks pretty much have only one drugstore choice: L’Oreal Color Pulse. Although they make 8 shades, not all stores offer them all. They are really inexpensive, so I suggest that if you find a color you like, buy a few boxes so you have some spares on hand.
Color Pulse is easy to apply. It is a pre-mixed foam that is applied to clean, wet hair and then rinsed out. It has a light, fruity scent and leaves hair soft. The color should last for 8-10 shampoos, fading a little with each wash.
Even though the color is temporary, still be cautious in staying close to your natural color and don’t leave the color on too long if your hair has been chemically treated in any way.
Using the Cool Blonde shade on my medium blonde hair, gave it a slighly sunnier quality. I wouldn’t expect to get dramatic changes - non of my co-workers commented on the change, but one did say I looked more awake.
Have you found another temporary color that you liked? I’d love to hear about it - share a comment.
Celebrity makeup artist Chantal Moore offers these tips:
-For super-straight lashes, curl before and after applying mascara, just
make sure the mascara has dried.
-The keep glitter eye makeup in place, blend loose glitter with water and
eye shadow and apply it first so you can clean up the inevitable extra
sparkle after.
-For perfect liquid liner, choose one with a really thin brush and practice
keeping a steady hand.
-When applying fake lashes, put one coat of mascara on before and another
coat after to blend your real lashes in with the fakes. For individual
lashes, use tweezers and let the glue dry a little before applying so it¹s
tacky.
-When doing a strong makeup element, like a bold lipstick color or dramatic
eye, apply it first so you don¹t overdo the rest of your face.
-Try applying pure Aloe Vera gel while skin is still moist, like after a
shower, as a deep moisturizer for dry skin.
I was sorting through my overflowing cabinet of beauty products the other day and refound my bottle of Rusk Design Series Sheer Brilliance Polisher. Hooray! I love this product and I’m not quite sure how it got lost in the first place. This lightweight, nice smelling gloss is a dream come true for my hair. It worked well when it was short (didn’t weigh it down) as well as when it is long.
This product has worked as many products for me: defrizzer, smoother, glosser, leave-in conditioner and heat styling protector. And it only takes a few drops to do the trick. I’ve applied it to wet hair before styling and dry hair alike and the results are great both way. The finish is soft, not sticky, and leaves a great light fruity/floral scent. I don’t have curly hair, so I can’t be sure, but I think it’d work great on defining curly hair too.
