Review: John Frieda Luxurious Volume Full Splendor Shampoo and Conditioner

I thought I’d tried every John Frieda shampoo and conditioner out there, but then they recently released the Luxurious Volume line.  This is a new direction for the company, which had originally based their products on toning down the volume, with products to help fight frizz.  But like their other lines, this one is very targeted to a specific type of hair: fine and limp.

I don’t have a problem with volume in my hair in general.  I usually have the opposite problem, except at the roots.  I often fight the “mushroom” look of flat on top and poofy on the bottom, so I wasn’t sure what effect this shampoo would have on my hair.  I also have pretty thick hair, so I was expecting little in the way of difference from these products.

I was surprised in the shower that both the shampoo and conditioner are a thick and rich formula.  Usually thick and rich are disconcerting for those with fine hair, as you have to worry that the products will weigh hair down and make it look more limp.  But that wasn’t the case with these.  They left hair really soft and well moisturized, but rinsed out clean.  This is a good thing for those whose fine hair also suffers from being easily damaged by styling tools.

I can’t attest to how much volume these products will give fine hair, but they made a noticeable difference in mine.  I didn’t end up with gigantic hair, but it certainly looked thicker and fuller and had a more even fullness from root to tip.  The texture was great too – the frizz was down and my strands were super soft.

Have you tried this shampoo and conditioner on your fine or thin hair?  What’d you think?
