I got to try out a bunch of new haircare products from Avon recently. Some were great – some were not. All in all though, I was impressed with the Advance Techniques line from Avon – each product is specifically targeted to help with some of our biggest hair woes.
The Purifying Treatment Shampoo is a clarifying shampoo. Although it says Daily Results on the front of the bottle, the instructions on the back suggest that you use it once a week. I don’t wear a lot of product in my hair, but do get oily roots, so I thought this shampoo could help give my scalp a fresh start. The formula is clear, smells a bit salon-chemically and lathered well. My hair felt strawlike after rinsing it out, but the Celloshine Treatment conditioner that I followed with returned softness to it.
I was surprised that 2 weeks after using this shampoo only once, my hair still feels dried out – stripped if you will. I know that is what clarifying shampoos do, but this one seems to work a little too well. I would probably avoid this shampoo if you have colored hair, but if you suffer from major product buildup, this might be a great choice for you.
The Celloshine Treatment is a mid-weight conditioner with that same salon-chemically smell to it. It left my hair very soft and when it dried it was very shiny and smooth. It definitely lives up to its name with the shine factor. I think it’s lightweight enough for fine hair and moisturizes enough for dry hair – it’s a win-win conditioner.
The Dry Ends Serum is a clear serum in a pump top bottle. A few squirts covered my towel dried hair nicely. The finish was nice and dried soft (some serums dry a little sticky) without any added weight to my hair. My hair has been in pretty good shape, so I can’t really attest to how well it works on dry ends. If you’ve used it on your dry ends, let me know what you think.
At the low prices that Avon offers these products, they are a killer deal. You get salon style products for drugstore prices. What’s there to lose?
