I’ve used powder mineral makeup in the past and loved how light it feels and the beautiful coverage that it gives, but many of them contain oils that aggrevate my acne-prone skin. I’d been thinking about trying Bare Escentuals makeup before since it was really the leader in starting the market for mineral makeup. I finally spoke with a sales person about the brand a few weeks back and she assured me that it is oil free. She also helped me find the correct shade for me and I bought the Get Started Kit. For $60 I got two shades of the foundation which has SPF 15, the Mineral Veil Finishing Powder, All-Over Face Color in Warmth, an application brush, a kabuki brush, a concealer brush and bareVitamins - Skin Rev-er Upper (note: not all kits contain the same items - different stores carry different kit options). It also came with a how-to DVD, but seeing as I’ve seen the infomercials many times, it is still unopened.
Because I cannot currently use retinols, I couldn’t use the Skin Rev-er Upper, but I’ve used everything else in the kit. The makeup really is great! I love the coverage the kabuki brush gives and the concealer brush help get coverage around my nose, eyes and on red spots that needed a little more coverage. The All-Over Face Color is a great blush - it is a great color for fall - and also works well as an eye shadow. The Mineral Veil added a softness and really set the other powder in. The coverage lasts all day and for one of the first times in my life, my skin isn’t oily at the end of the day! I also haven’t had problems with the makeup settling into fine lines like some powders do, my acne is getting better and my husband said I look hot. I’m kicking myself for not trying this stuff out sooner! My only complaint is that the powder is pretty messy. I have to lay down tissues to prevent my counter from becoming a mess and have to be careful not to get any on my shirt. Maybe I’ll get better at it with practice.

When I had my baby, I was introduced to a whole new world of products - baby products. I was happy to find that there are many natural and organic lines out there, since I want to minimize my daughter’s exposure to potentially harmful ingredients. One of those lines is California Baby. I checked out their Super Sensitive Bubble Bath since it is free of fragrance, sodium lauryl sulfate and synthetic additives for no tears (did you know that some company’s products are “tear free” because the contain a anesthetizer to numb the eyes - yikes!).
This bubble bath also contains a healthy dose of wimsy, as it comes with a bubble wand so that you can blow bubbles while playing in the bath. My baby is a little young to play along, but she was fascinated by the bubbles floating around her. The product was definitely scent free and didn’t cause any irritation on my little one’s delicate skin. The product is also recommended for older children and adults - especially those with sensitive skin.
There are some other great varieties of this bubble bath available that I can’t wait to try: Aromatherapy for Calming, Overtired & Cranky, Light & Happy (refreshing), Cold & Flue, Cammomile & Herbs (relaxing), and scents called Party (calming) and I Love You (pampering). I also can’t wait to try out their other products for baby!
Have you tried any of California Baby’s other products? What would you recommend I check out next?
