Dreamy Hair with Rene Furterer Okara Products for Colored or Permed Hair

Like most twenty-thirtysomething gals I know, I’ve spent gobs of money on hair care – especially in comparison to what I’ve spent on other things like, say, health insurance and gym memberships… Be that as it may, I’ve a penchant for really good hair stuff and have paid great attention to what’s really really good and what’s just overpriced junk in a fancy bottle. I do use specialized products for colored hair because I regularly get blonde highlights and have been told by my stylist that you MUST use specialized products, especially if you’re a “brittle blonde.”
When I received a gift bag of the Rene Furterer Okara Products for Colored or Permed Hair, the products sat in my bathroom for quite some time before I tried them (my logic being that they were given as a gift and nobody really gives the good stuff as a gift – they keep it for themselves, right?). But then I tried them and oh-my-gaaaawd are they awesome! The Protective Radiance Shampoo has an incredible lather and left my hair feeling clean but not dry or brittle. The Restructuring and Protective Radiance Mask (conditioner, for us plebs) seriously came out like a facemask, it’s wonderfully heavy and you really feel that it is coating all of your hair. My hair dried well without the normal flyaways and I never had an oily buildup around the roots like some other “protective” conditioners offer. The smell for both the Shampoo and the Mask is divine, it’s not overly fruity or perfume-y like other products – just a great, understated blend of herbals. I also got the Protect Color Radiance Serum, but I haven’t used it much yet. It’s also got a great smell, and it feels nice and silky on your hair – but I’m loyal to my Kerastase Oleo-Relax anti-frizz serum and I think they’re probably similar products.
The downside? $23.00 for a 5.1oz shampoo and $28.00 for a 5.1oz mask. The mask lasts a while as it’s heavy and you really can use a quarter-sized amount for shoulder length hair, but I found the shampoo requires about a half-dollar size to work up a good lather and I went through it pretty quickly. They’re still not as ridiculously spendy as other products, but they blow a good ‘ole bottle of Pantene right out of the water! The verdict? I’m about to go online and order myself some more – nothing else has compared yet!
