If you are reading this blog, I’m sure you’re a lot like me – you’ve spent countless hours (and dollars) on beauty products. Whether it is creams and serums to improve your skin or deep conditioning treatments for your hair or strengthening polish for your nails, there always seems to be room for improvement. Sure these products can help improve these things on the surface, but we all know that good skin, hair and nails largely starts with what we put in our bodies. I try to eat healthy, but I lapse – a lot. But one thing I am diligent about is taking supplements. I keep one of those medication dispensers with spaces for every day of the week by my bead and everynight before turning out my light, take my vitamins.
My parents were always big on supplements, starting with those candy colored and flavored Flintstones vitamins when I was younger and then progressing to a daily multi in my pre-teen years. After leaving home, I was a little less consistant about taking them, often skipping days. But when I got pregnant I was very careful about taking my pre-natal vitamins every single day. That’s when I started taking them at night – because I found that time didn’t exaserbate my morning-sickness. Consistancy with the pre-natal vitamin really did great things for my hair and nails. I was forever getting compliments on how great my nails looked. They were growing in really strong and would stay long without hardly ever breaking.
Now that the babe is born, I’m still taking a multi vitamin. My nails are still looking good, but started breaking and splitting more frequently. And over the winter my hair was looking pretty dull. I read about Hirsana, a supplement from Switzerland that is made of pure golden millet oil that helps improve skin, hair and nails. I started adding one capsule a day to my multi-vitamin routine and within a week I could see an improvement in my skin. It looked a lot a brighter. After another week, my hair was looking healthier and my nails were getting noticealby stronger.
The millet oil naturally contains vitamin E, which is an antioxidant and protects cells against free radicals, vitamin B6 which boosts the metabolism, thiamin which helps the nervous system function normally, riboflavin supports the formation of blood cell, pantothenic acid is involved in the metabolic process for energy recovery, biotin which also plays an important role in metabolic processes and zinc which supports the build-up of protein produced within the body.
The directions recommend that you take two capsules a day for the first three months and then drop down to one a day. Maybe I would have seen results a bit sooner, had I been taking two a day. But the difference with just one is good enough for me. I definitely recommend taking supplements for your overall health, and if you are looking for help with your hair, skin or nails specifically, check out Hirsana.
