Need Refreshment? Just Add Scope

I’m generally not a big fan of minty dental care products – the mint has gotten a bit too extreme in some products for my taste buds. I like a nice fresh, clean feeling. I don’t like feeling like all my taste buds were burned away! So I was weary of some new products that added Long Lasting Scope Mint. Sounds extreme, right? Not really. These products really do go the subtle and lasting route, rather than the intense quick burst of other breath fresheners.

Scope Outlast Mouthwash is the undiluted of the products. It comes in Long Lasting Mint and Peppermint flavors. It doesn’t have that bracing burn like Listerene does. Both flavors are relatively mild. I drink a lot of water, so I can’t say how long the effects will last on their own, but my breath still smelled nice a few hours after using it.

If you like the flavor, but also want to get some actual dental hygiene in, check out Crest Extra White Plus Scope Outlast and Oral-B Advantage Floss Picks Plus Scope Outlast Flavor. The key here is that you are getting this regular whitening toothpaste and floss picks with the flavor added in. I tried the Long Lasting Mint toothpaste and think it works as good as any other whitening toothpaste I’ve used. The mint is subtle and doesn’t melt your taste buds off (despite the name). I usually eat or drink soon after brushing in the morning, so I’m not sure how long the freshness lasts. But I have noticed a difference when I brush with it at night: my morning breath is much improved. Still there mind you, but much less icky.

I’ll admit (to you, but not my dentist) that I’m not that great about flossing. I floss maybe once a week. I usually just forget, but I also just can’t be bothered to take the time. The Oral-B Advantage Floss Picks are a handy way to get my flossing in and save time. You really only need one hand to use one and I can get other morning stuff done while flossing one-handed. Just be careful – the pick on the other end is very sharp and will stab you in the hand if you aren’t careful! The addition of the minty Scope flavor is really nice. Even if I floss without doing anything else, my mouth feels fresh and my breath smells great.
