Shauna Levingston, owner of Steamboat Silver Company, has been in the jewelry business since 2005. But last year she decided to start designing her own line of pieces inspired by the Rocky Mountains surrounding Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She seeks to capture the simple lines and beautiful colors seen throughout the season in this mountain resort town.
Shauna was born and raised in Steamboat Springs. She worked for the owners of Steamboat Silver Company as their buyer for a few years before getting the opportunity to buy the store. She took her great eye for purchasing lovely pieces and her own inspirations
and channeled them into her own designs. She loves working with sterling silver, semi-precious gemstones, wood, horn, aspen leafs and more to create affordable pieces that you’ll want to wear every day. She says her goal isn’t special occasion or costume jewelry-like pieces. She creates simple jewelry with a unique element to them that can be worn every day and for any occassion.
If you can’t make it to Steamboat Springs, you can check out her Etsy store, where she features a variey of her handmade necklaces and earrings. Some of her most popular designs feature the lotus flower: a symbol of transformation, renewal and new beginnings. She also started using BeadforLife beads in some of her designs. These colorful beads are rolled from recycled paper by Ugandan women working their way out of poverty. Shauna first saw BeadforLife beads at a BeadParty and was inspired by their story. She loves incorporating the beads into her designs and gives 10% of the sale of these pieces back to BeadforLife. Her customers are loving them as well – they get to own a lovely and unique piece and know that part of their purchase goes directly towards helping women provide for themselves and their families.
Shauna has generously donated one of her BeadforLife pieces to us for a giveaway. This lariat style necklace is made with antiqued steel chain and is worn with the pendant end sliped through a loop at the other end of the chain. You can adjust the loop to wear the necklace in a variety of ways. To enter, visit her Etsy store and then leave me a comment telling me which is your favorite piece (one entry per person). You can also earn extra entries by:
