Finally! Natural Acne Solutions From Burt’s Bees

Yay! Burt’s Bees recently introduced a Natural Acne Solutions line with a Purifying Gel Cleanser, Pore Refining Scrub, Targeted Spot Treatment and Daily Moisturizing Lotion. I love Burt’s Bees for being 100% natural, phthalate, paraben, sodium lauryl sulfate and petrochemical free. But I’ve never really been able to use their skin care products on my oily and acne prone skin. I was so happy to see them expand their offerings to include these products. I tried out the Scrub and the Moisturizer for a few weeks and they now have a permanent place on my vanity.

The Pore Refining Scrub contains naturally derived salicylic acid from willow bark extract, jojoba beads and fruit acids to exfoliate. The formula is super creamy and the jojoba beads aren’t very scruby. I was surprised at how unscruby the formula is, but I guess the salicylic and fruit acids are really doing the exfoliation. The formula rinses off easily, but left my skin feeling moisturized. This kind of freaked me out at first, since that usually signals “breakout imminent” in other products. But this didn’t make me breakout at all. In fact, unlike other cleasers that can leave my skin feeling stripped of all oil, but then making my skin overproduce oil, this cleansers moisturizing ket my skin from feeling oily for hours. Added bonus: the recyclable tube is made with 34% post-consumer content!

The Daily Moisturizing Lotion comes in a recyclable glass bottle with pump (packaged in a recyclable box made with 30% post-consumer content). Its formula is made with the same naturally derived salicylic acid along with and gravel willow, horsetail, goldenseal, lemongrass, witch hazel and hops to soothe and calm skin. This moisturizer is super light and absorbs very easily. It kept my skin feeling well moisturized all day. It also helped keep the oil at bay and by the end of the day, my clogged pores are greatly reduced from previous levels. Hooray for Burt’s Bees!
