A few weeks ago, I posted the details behind Debra Messing’s Emmy’s look. Her very California bronzed look made me sad for the end of the summer. My fair skin looses it’s summer glow pretty quickly and I spend the entire winter trying to not look pale and pasty. Bronzers can be tricky, but Debra is also a fair skinned lady and the bronzer looks great on her. So I asked my Lorac PR contact if there were any samples of the makeup used on Debra that I could try out. She sent me:Lorac mascara

The products come in very chick black boxes with bright flashes on them – I think what it might be like to be a celebrity at a premier with cameras flashing at you. The TANtilizer is a generously sized compactLorac bronzer with clear domed lid. The bronzer is a strangly named Matte and Satin at the same time. The effect is a slightly shimmery formula – it catches the light but isn’t sparkly. The color is amazing! Many bronzers I’ve tried are either too dark or too orangey for my skin. This one is very light and brownish. I used a blush brush to apply it to the apples of my cheeks, with tad on my nose and brow and got a gorgeous glowy look. Just for fun, I tried adding a second coat. The effect was too dark on me, but showed that this bronzer will work on darker skin – just add layers.

The Breakthrough Performance Lipstick SPF 15 in Nude Scene is a fabulous neutral shade that comes in a sleek, gunmetal tube. The creamy formula smells like vanilla cookies and has a very subtle shimmer. The formula slides on smoothly and gives great coverage without feeling heavy. It feels super moisturizing and looked freshly applied for hours. It did come off pretty easily on my coffee cup, but being a neutral, it wasn’t very noticeable. Plus I then got to pull out my sleek tube and reapply another lovely scented coat. The great formula also gives you SPF 15 coverage and is paraben free. The neutral color has two great bonuses: 1. You can apply it without a mirror and not worry about getting it perfect and 2. It enhances the tan look of the bronzer and helps balance the dark eyelashes I applied with the…

This is one of those cool double ended mascaras with a primer in one end and a shiny mascara in the other. The tube is the same gunmetal color of the lipstick and is slightly longer than your typical mascara tube. The primer is a grayish color that left my lashes slightly lighter. Both ends have a short rubbery-spiky brush that does a good job of coating each lash without any clumping. The Primer dried pretty quickly and made my lashes feel super soft. Applying the mascara on top of it was a snap. Sometimes it can be tricky to hide the primer with the mascara, but since this primer is more like a lotion for your lashes, it seems to have absorbed some before I added the mascra. The mascara itself is a great dark black. It contains mother of pearl that helps give it a shiny look (like dark, wet lashes). The mascara dried pretty quickly, didn’t clump when I added a second coat, and didn’t flake, smudge or fade all day. It also came off easily with soap and water, making it even easier to use.

I like Debra’s look on myself. I skipped the eyeliner, so the look was softer for daytime wear. And I’ll definitely be getting good use out of this bronzer as winter drags on.
