How many times have you looked a pair of shoes in your closet and through, “those shoes are so cute! Why don’t I ever wear them!?!” Then you wear them and end up hobbling home at the end of the day remembering why they sit in your closet unworn. But they’re cute – and you probably paid good money for them – so you won’t get rid of them. With a small investment in some insoles you’ll be back to getting your money’s worth out of those cute heels or sassy boots.
I’ve been reviving pairs of uncomfortable shoes from my closet all year with Foot Petals inserts. This brand has cleverly designed cushions to fit every style shoe out there. So if you have a pair of strappy heels that hurt – no problem. Flats that rub – no problem. Recently I’ve rescued a few pairs of heels from the back of the closet for my fall wardrobe (check out my review of some of their other offerings from earlier this year here). Both have peel and stick backs so they’ll stay perfectly positioned.
Killer Kushionz are full insoles that can be worn with open toe shoes and even sandals. They have a slender shape that starts under your heel and ends with a pad under the ball of your foot. They come in a variety of colors so you can make them even more invisible by matching them to the inside color of your shoes. I’ve been wearing them in Lavender, a purple color that also releases a subtle lavender scent when you wear them. It’s relaxing and keeps your feet felling fresh. I’ve worn them in flats that have less than ideal cushioning and in sky high peep-toe heels.
Haute Heelz are just the under the heel cushion. They are really great for high heels. I added these to a pair of shoe booties that I bought last year and have hardly worn. They aren’t particularly high, but they have no padding to speak of. They instantly hurt my feet the minute I stood up in them when I pulled them out for the first time this season a few weeks back. They are a little on the snug side as it is, so I hadn’t thought to use an insole before. I gave it a try and ahhhhhh! The Haute Heelz are thin enough to slip in these tight shoes, but still provided enough cushion to make them comfortable to wear. They can also be used inside the tops of shoes that rub on the tops of your toes to prevent friction and keep your polish from rubbing or chipping off.

O.K. I’ve seen these at Nordy’s before, but they seem super-pricey compared to Dr. Scholl’s – are they really that much better?
I haven’t tried the Dr. Scholl’s, but there are some definite differences. Foot Petals, have a gripy surface – great for when you are on an incline. And they also have a sticky backing that helps keep them in place. Have you tried the Dr. Scholls?
