Express Yourself With Urban Decay Show Pony Palette

Show PonyUrban Decay recently launched their Show Pony Palette in a large mirrored compact designed by LA artist Kime Buzzelli. It comes with a mini bottle of their cult favorite Eyeshadow Primer Potion, a travel sized 24/7 eye pencil in Zero (black) and six eye shadows: snatch (peachy-pink w/glitter), mildew (deep green), flash (electric purple), painkiller (turquoise shimmer), smog (deep bronze), and toasted (copper).

I’ll admit that I was initially turned off by Kime’s art. The graffiti-like painting of girls with smudged makeup really doesn’t match my personal style. But the products it contains are pretty awesome. The Eyeshadow Primer Potion is known as one of the best available and keeps your makeup looking like Kime’s paintings. The creamy primer is applied with a lip gloss-like wand applicator and helps keep your eyeshadow from fading, creasing or smudging. I’ve found that it takes a while to dry, so I apply it early on and finish the rest of my face before I add eyeshadow on top. (It can also make the eyeshadow a little harder to remove, so I definitely have to use an eye makeup remover to get it all off).

The eyeliner is a perfect size to stash in your purse to freshen up before going out in the evening. The gel-like texture smooths on easily, helping you get a great line. Check out my review of the 24/7 pencils here.

The real showcase in this palette is the eyeshadows. At first the choices seem to be randomly selected, but you can pair the more wild colors with one of the neutrals to highlight the bright color, go really wild with all bright colors or even stick to just the neutrals for a more tame look. The neutrals are really more my daily speed and I’ve been sporting them at the office. But I have added a bright before going out and night. I’ve also used an eyeliner brush to use the brights as a liner – a great way to add a subtle bit of punk to your look.

What really had me sold on this kit was the price – only $30! Plus Snatch and Painkiller are exclusive shades, only available on this palette.
