History is about to be made with the release of Disney’s upcoming movie The Princess And The Frog. This twist on the classic fairy tale is set in New Orleans and features Disney’s first African American Princess, Tiana. Not only does Tiana give African American girls a role model they can identify with, she also sets a great example for girls everywhere with her story of inner beauty and believing in your dreams. Disney picked a great partner when they chose Carol’s Daughter to create the bath products line (yes, bath products – what else is Disney known for besides their merchandising). Carol’s Daughter was founded by Lisa Price, a hard-working African American woman who started her company by mixing up products in her kitchen and now has a devoted celebrity following.
The thing that excites me most about these products is that, while aimed a young girls who’ll want to buy them for the cartoon character pictured on the front, they’ll still be getting a high quality product. Carol’s Daughters products are made with natural ingredients and the Magical Beauty Collection is no exception. You won’t be getting cheap products scented like bubble gum with a cartoon character slapped on the label here.
The Collection includes a shampoo, conditioner, detangling spray and bubble bath. I used my little princess to test out these products and have to say that I’m tempted to steal them for myself. The paraben free products have a beautiful delicate scent – like sweet flowers and fruit. The shampoo has no harsh detergents and aloe leaf juice. The conditioner contains sunflower seed , olive and sweet almond oils. The combo left my daughters delicate hair clean and soft.
I didn’t need the detangler after the conditioner, but did use it later when she decided to style her hair with some banana. I wiped it out and sprayed on a squirt of the detangler before I combed in out. My friends who have daughters with curly hair swear by the power of a detangling spray.
The bubble bath created a sweet smelling foam in the tub and saved me the trouble of using soap. Like the shampoo it doesn’t have any harsh detergents and didn’t irritate my daughter’s notoriously sensitive skin.
The collection comes in kid friendly-sized bottles. Great for small hands – the only downside being that they are pricey for the size and kids have a tendency to squirt out waaay more product than is necessary. So help them out – a little will go a long way – and you can make this special treat last a long time.
With this movie coming out at Thanksgiving, I’m sure Princess Tiana products will be huge for Christmas. Looking at Carol’s Daughter’s site today, they are already sold out of some of the products, so be sure to jump on finding those holiday gifts soon. Don’t have kids? You can snag some for yourself or a favorite niece or friends daughter. Who’s the bestest auntie in the world? You are!
