CosMedix is a great spa brand that I’ve been using for a few years. Lately I was checking out two of their moisturizers: Mystic Hydrating Treatment And Emulsion Intense Hydrator. The Mystic Hydrator is a light spray mist that is oil free, so I kept this sample for myself. The Emulsion Intense Hydrator says it is for dry, aging or resurfaced skin (like after you’ve had a peel or microdermabrasion treatment done) so I asked my mom to try it out for me.
The Mystic Hydrating Treatment is a great product for my acne prone skin. The spray mist contains some great natural ingredients likeĀ witch hazel, aloe, sage, myrrh, rosemary, cucumber and lime oils. It has a fresh botanical, but not flowery, scent. You can use it as a moisturizer first thing in the morning or as a pick me up throughout the day. I found it to be a bit to light as my morning moisturizer since my skin also has a tendency to dry out (despite the acne). So I spritzed it on on top of my mineral powder makeup to help “set” it in place. I’ve also been using it as a refreshing spritz throughout the day as the indoor heating has been making my skin a bit dry and itchy. It’ll also be great in the warmer months to help refresh you when you’re feeling a bit melty. I didn’t have any problems with breakouts and will definitely keep using this spray.
My mom reports that the Emulsion Intense Hydrator not greasy at all, and that she thinks I could probably have used it on my skin type as well. For an intense moisturizer, she didn’t find it to be heavy at all. In fact, she said it feels like a lifting product – like it tightens the skin a bit when you apply it. I had to ask if that made her skin feel dry at all, but she said that it moisturized all day long. It also worked great under her foundation and had no discernable smell. This moisturizer contains jojoba oil and shea butter and is formulated for sensitive or irritated skin. I may have to steal this one back next time I visit….
