Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Kiss & Stay Gloss

Kiss & StayI’m weary of glosses that say they’ll last – simply because they usually don’t. However, I’m happy to report that the color of Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Kiss & Stay Gloss actually does. The gloss has two sides: one with the deep color, and another with a light shimmer to give your color the glossy, wet look. I tried “First Kiss” a deep red shade good for nighttime and “Dream On” a softer, blush/nude better suited for dayware. The color side is much more stain than gloss – but that’s a good thing! The color sinks in immediately and stays put. The other side, a translucent gloss with just a hint of tint gives your lips high shine and moisture factor. I loved that the color sunk in so well and lasted so long.

As you age, your lips lose their own natural pigment and a bit of shade can do wonders for your overall look. I personally like to apply my makeup in the morning and then not worry about it for the rest of the day. So a lip color that can survive multiple lattes, a tendency to bite and dry winter days is a great find! The dark side smells kind of medicinal going on and it is a super-stain, so you’ll want to make sure that your lips are smooth prior to application. Beauty tip: After you shower, rub your towel back and forth over your lips (like how you file your nails) until they are smooth. Apply a thin layer of chap stick to moisturize for a few minutes and then apply your color.

Though I loved the dark color, I did not care for the gloss and ended up using my own gloss. It’s definitely shiny, but it also has small bits of sparkle in it and is a tad on the sticky side. It just felt a little too young for me. However, with a retail tag of $7.99/shade, I’m more than happy to buy these even though I only use one side. The stain is great and, unlike other companies’ stains; Rimmel offers twelve different shades so you can pick something that works for you. One last note: the shades go on your lips pretty true to the color you see in the tube – so never fear if you can’t try them on.
