Cheap Thrills: N.Y.C Metro Quartet Eyeshadows

When it comes to the holiday season, you may be going out a lot more than you usually do. You want to dress up, but you may not want to spend a lot of money on new makeup or even time for that matter. There are lots of great little items you can pick up at the drugstore on the cheap, so you don’t have to worry about using them only a few times.

One product you might want to check out is N.Y.C. Colors Metro Quartet Eyeshadows. These tiny little eyeshadow compacts contain 4 complimentary, richly pigmented colors. The colors are labeled for all over color, contour, crease and highlight, making it easy to know how to apply them – especially if your usually routine is only one color or none at all (guilty!).

Steer clear of foam applicators and use a set of shadow brushes (or wipe one brush thoroughly clean between colors) for the best look. With rich colors like these, it’s easy to apply to much quickly, so start with light coats. Get some on the brush, tap off the excess and use a light hand to brush it on.

2 kits that I’ve tried both worked really well:

Femme Fatal might be better suited to dark complexions, although if you are fair and want a dramatic look, check it out. It has a tan all over color, dark gray for contour, plum for the crease and a champagne color for highlight.

Glamorous is lighter, but still dramatic with pale pink, dark pink, purple and silver.

The color lasted a long time, but did crease a bit after a couple hours of wear. For about $3.99 a pop, they are pretty fun and you can buy a few to find one that suits you perfectly.
