Try It For Yourself: Win A Brazilian Peel At-Home Glycolic Treatment

Peels are one of those beauty things that intrigue and scare me at the same time. I love the idea of getting rid of all that dead skin and revealing fresh, healthier looking skin. But I also worry about burning and being left looking like you got a bad sunburn. My skin is acne prone, but also pretty sensitive. Striking the right balance between a strong enough product to help clear up my skin and a product that is too strong, irritates my skin and actually causes me to breakout can be tricky.

Brazilian Peel’s At-Home Glycolic Treatment system had me a little worried. It advertises on the box that it’s 5X stronger than the average at-home peel and it comes in individual doses in syringe-like tubes. I figured if it got to burn-y feeling I could wash it off early and hope it didn’t leave me red. So I followed the directions and applied the product to clean dry skin. You pop the lid of the tube, and press the (needle-free) syringe plungers down. The tube actually has two chambers filled with a clear and a creamy looking gel. When you combine the two in the palm of your hand, the ingredients are activated and get really warm.

I slathered a thick coat all over my face and set a timer for 10 minutes. The formula is basically odorless and was goopy enough to stay put during the 10 minutes. The only discomfort I felt was a little bit of formula that got onto my lip. I wiped it away with a tissue and the burning stopped. After 10 minutes I rinse the formula off with water and checked out the results.

My face was only slightly pink and that faded after about 20 minutes. My skin looked super smooth, and shiny – like all the dullness had been melted away. I applied a light moisturizer for the night (you’d want to apply an SPF for the day if you did this in the morning) and then checked out the results in the morning. Some areas of congestion in the pores along my jawline had noticeably improved and red spots from recently faded zits were lighter.
