Rimmel is definitely my go to drugstore brand when I ‘m looking to try out new or trendy makeup colors. They definitely keep up with the trends and offer lots of color options when it comes to eye shadows. I recently checked out the Glam’Eyes Quad Palette in Sweet Smoulder. This palette contains shadows in gold, light blue, pink and black. And guess what? You are supposed to wear them all together!
I like to experiment with makeup for fun, but this is not a color combination I would have put together in a million years. Luckily there is a little cheat chart on the back of the compact that tells you where to apply each color (I also found a great tutorial on their blog). The pink is applied to the overall lid, the light blue in the inner corner, the gold as a brow bone highlighter and the black as a liner.
I’ll admit though that my first run through was a bit of a dud. I used the little foam applicator that comes in the palette and is always crap. The pink made my eyes look like I’d been crying and the black flaked all over my cheeks. So the next time around I used my real brushes and what a difference! The look is fun and the pink subtle enough not to look like a teenager. I still had trouble with the black flaking, even with a liner brush, so I used a wet brush to help keep a clean line.
The Quad Palettes come in 12 color combinations, with a few fun and funky like the one I tried, and many in more tame color combinations. At just under $6 bucks a pop, you can try out a few!
