Post-Summer Skin Repair At Home With New Products From Algenist
This past spring, I reviewed some products from a new skincare company named Algenist. I was blown away at how well the products have worked for my skin that their Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer has been one of few products I went and bought myself after my press sample ran out. And I think the line must be doing pretty well as my review is one of my most visited posts on my site in 4 years of product reviews. So if you’re as much a fan as I am, you’ll be excited to know about the 3 new products they’ve launched: Regenerative Anti-Aging Lotion, Targeted Age Correcting Serum and Overnight Restorative Cream.
The Regenerative Anti-Aging Lotion is a lighter weight version of the Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer I love so much. Instead of a thick cream in a pot, this lotion comes in a pump bottle and is great for those of us who don’t like to wear a heavy cream during the day. I’ve been rocking it during these unseasonably warm fall days we’ve been having and wishing that’d I’d had it to use during the summer months. Like its predecessor, the lotion has alguronic acid to increasecell regeneration and elastin synthesis, vitamins C and E to reduce wrinkles, even skin tone and boost skin radiance and algae extract to smooth skin texture and build skin firmness.
The Targeted Age Correcting Serum is a creamy serum that comes in an easy to use pump bottle. The serum is light weight, smooths on easily and doesn’t leave the stickiness that some serums leave behind. Meant to be worn under your moisturizer, this serum is aimed at reducing dark spots and age spots, evening skin tone and smoothing skin texture. If you spent a little too much time in the sun this may be what you were looking for to face those dark patches that are left over after your tan fades. I haven’t yet experienced sun spots, but my skin does have a tendency to leave behind a nice red spot every time I get a pimple – no matter how small- that sticks around for weeks. Using the serum definitely helped fade those spots a little faster than they normally do on their own. Along with alguronic acid and vitamin C, the formula contains oligopeptide to reduce skin pigmentation to lighten and brighten the skin and bearberry and licorice extracts to decrease melanin production to even skin tone.
The Overnight Restorative Cream is the richest cream offered in the line and is suitable for overnight use. The sweet smelling cream is thick, but spreads easily and absorbs into skin fairly quickly. Just for giggles I tried this during the day, and although it worked well under my makeup, my skin did feel a bit oily all day long. At night however, it works wonders on my dry spots AND hasn’t caused any breakouts. The formula contains alguronic acid, vitamins C and E, peptides to build collagen to strengthen skin structure and crithmum maritimum extract which stimulates cell renewal to increase skin density (per my google search it is an extract from the Sea Fennel that grows on maritime rocks along the European coasts).
All the products are suitable for all skin types, non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic (as I noted for my lack of breakouts that I often get from moisturizing or anti-aging products), as well as free of nasty parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, phthalates, GMO ingredients and triclosan. The products are definitely high end, but you can always get a sample at Sephora to try before you buy. And if you don’t have a Sephora nearby, Algenist.com now offers travel sizes of some of the products (also good if you’re hooked like me and want to take them with you when you travel!).
