Manic Panic hair colors came out when I was in high school.  They were semi-permanent technicolor hair colors.  Techno was just starting to appear on the scene and I wanted to dye my hair fire engine red.  I was at the top of my class and had an after-school job, so going punk rock like that wasn’t really an option.  I did, however, dye a bright red streak that I thought looked awesome!  The problem was though that on my blond hair, the dye quickly faded to pink and was washed out within a few weeks.

Looking back, I probably could have gotten away with a full head of bright red - it certainly would have been easier in high school.  Doing that these days can seriously limit your career options.  I was excited to see that bright hair streaks are back, with Kate Moss sporting a bright pink streak, but I’m certainly too grown up to do that now.  But wait!  I can!  I recently saw Streekers, a wash out hair color that comes in Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Ultra Violet, Purple and Pink.

These hair colors come in a lipgloss-like tube with a sponge-tip applicator.  You apply it to your styled hair and let it dry.  Next time you wash your hair, you shampoo it right out (you may need to shampoo a few times and/or use a clarifying shampoo if you have very light hair).  You can have fun and funky hair in the evenings and on weekends and still keep your respectable day job!

My husband and I both tried out the colors.  We’re both blond and all the colors showed on our hair easily - I’m not quite sure how they’d look on darker hair.  But since the color is coating the hair, not dyeing it, it will probably show well.  My husband has short hair, so he had trouble applying the color without getting it on his scalp.  With longer hair, it’s easier to pick up a chunk of hair to limit where the color gets applied.  The hair can look a little crispy, like you applied a lot of gel, once the color dries.  I tried running a comb through my hair and that helped soften it back up - just be sure to wait until the color has completely dried.

If you’ve tried this product on your dark hair, let us know how it worked for you.

If you’d like to try out Streekers, be the first to post a comment of the color you’d like to try and I’ll send it to you (I only have one of each color, so don’t choose a color that someone else has already requested).

Vote For Natural and WIN!

Burt’s Bees has been working with the Natural Products Association and other likeminded brands to develop the Natural Seal to help consumers to find products that contain at least 95% natural ingredients. They’ve launched the Vote Natural campaign with Julianne Moore to promote the Natural Seal and raise awareness about natural vs synthetic products.

C&C California has joined in by creating a limited edition Vote Natural, 100% organic, long sleeved t-shirt. I have 2 in medium to give away. To enter to win, leave a comment on this post on how you feel about natural products. Comments must be left by September 28, 2008. I will randomly select 2 winners in the week following and contact the winners for their mailing address. Open to US residents only.

I didn’t really get a chance to test this product during my pregnancy.  Yes, my inny became an outty about 7 months in, but I was going to try this product on Saturday.  My baby came on Friday morning - about 10 days earlier than expected.  What can I say, she was eager to meet me!

I personally didn’t mind the outty.  It actually became a comforting little nubbin to play with when bored.  And my husband thought it was pretty cute.  It was kind of like a turkey timer - it really popped out when my baby was done cooking.  But some women HATE it!  Or maybe you are one of the few out there with a natural outty.

Miss Oops, has a solution for you!  The Popper Stopper!  It looks like a giant bandaid, but it helps smooth out the bump on your tummy.  Kind of like nipple covers for when you are going braless (although they make different ones for hiding your nips).

Since I didn’t get a chance to try these, I’d like to send you my (unused) package.  Be the first to leave a comment telling me why you’d like to hide your outty (preggers or not) and I’ll contact you for your mailing address.  Then you can tell us all how they worked for you!
