The new Conair Infiniti Pro hair dryer combines all of the greatest hair drying technologies, without costing a bundle. This little orange dryer is an update to my “ionic” dryer that was all the rage a few years ago. The neutralizing ions emitted by the dryer help the hair cuticle to lie flat, making hair smoother. It also has a ceramic coated grill, which helps keep the temperature coming out of the dryer even. This powerful little dryer is 1875 Watts and uses an AC motor, which can help the motor last three times as long.

Both Meghan and I tested out this dryer and liked it. We found it a bit heavy for how small it is. The results were good, although I thought it took a little longer to dry than normal despite the air flow being much stronger than my old hair dryer. It has 3 heat settings, 2 speeds and a cool shot button to help set your style once dry. Like every dryer I’ve ever tried, the cool shot button doesn’t blow as cool an air as I like, but does help calm my hair in to a smooth sleek style.

For those of you talented enough to simultaneously wield a round brush while drying, the 2 concentrator attachments will help further sleeken your style.

Your New Favorite Burt’s Bees Lip Balm: Nourishing With Mango Butter And Rejuvenating With Acai Berry (And Win A Trip To The Amazon!)

If you don’t own a tube of Burt’s Bees Lip Balm I’m not sure we can be friends. This amazing lip moisturizer has been a staple in my beauty arsenal for as long as I can remember. The little yellow tubes occupy space in my purse, my bedside table, my desk at work, my husbands pocket… They are just a great product. When they came out with the Pomegranate version, with a hint of color, a few years back I snapped those up too. Now they’ve added to the mix with Mango and Acai Berry versions!

They both have the same great features as the original: based on beeswax, sunflower seed, coconut and castor seed oils, free of parabens, phthalates and synthetic ingredients and a long lasting moiturizing formula. The Mango butter formula contains mango seed butter and smells like sweet mango. The Acai Berry has acai berry oil and a black cherry scent.

The only bummer is that the Acai Berry sports a dark purple cap, but unlike the pomegranate formula it doesn’t have any color. My husband sees this as a plus.

A while back, I tested out Softlips for the first time since middle school and was pleasantly surprised at how far the line had come. Seeing their most recent offering has me downright impressed! The new PURE 100% Natural line is free of preservatives, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, mineral oil and even gluten! Normally you’d pay a premium for products like this, but this drugstore staple will only set you back $4 to $6 at most!

The line has the familiar slim tubs of Lip Balm, but they come tinted in three shimmery shades: shell pink, natural honesty (nude) and coral charm all have SPF 15. If you prefer a gloss, they have that too, in the same shades as the lip balms and are free if stickiness are are super moisturizing. Both the balm and gloss impart a very faint hint of natural looking color and have a slightly sweet scent.

If you prefer your favorite lipstick shade, check out the Lip Butter, a clear and shiny Lip Gloss that moisturizes and protects with SPF. And as much as I love all the new balms, glosses and butters, the Lip Polish is one of my new favorite products. The little pot contains a fine scrub made with sugar and organic coconut that buffs away dry lip flakes and leaves you with a supper soft kisser. Rub it on for a minute, rinse and wipe dry. It of course has a lovely tropical coconut scent and cleared up the flaky lips problem I’d been having in a snap.

Skip The Waiting List And Win shu uemura Art Of Hair Essence Absolue

Known for their fun and fresh cosmetics, shu uemura launched their Art of Hair line in the Fall of 2009. They promptly sold out of the Essence Absolue, a multipurpose oil that finally became available again only recently (they had to set up a waiting list!).

I asked my PR rep to send me a sample as soon as I saw it was available again and oops! she accidentally sent me two. Lucky for one of you – that means I have one to giveaway (details at the end of the review).

So what’s so special about this Nourishing Protective Oil? Well, you can use it as a leave in conditioner. You can use it as a pre-shampoo treatment. And you can use it as an overnight treatment for dry hair. The formula is a very light, “dry” oil that doesn’t leave your hair feeling greasy. It adds moisture to dry hair, tames frizzy hair, and leaves your hair looking super shiny.

I tried out the product in all the suggested ways. One word of caution – I have shoulder length hair and using one pump as a leave-in before blow drying was a little too much. It left my hair looking like it needed a washing. On my second attempt, I used a half pump and only applied from mid-shaft to the tips of my hair. The result? Super soft, super shiny hair.

Using as a pre-shampoo treatment is a good idea for those with damaged hair. The oil can help protect your fragile tips while you suds away at your scalp (they suggest 4 pumps). This technique with my usual shampoo and conditioner left my hair feeling super soft.

As an overnight treatment, they suggest 4 pumps applied in sections to your hair and massaged into your scalp. I love they scalp treatment, but 4 pumps was a lot for my hair and left me with a greasy pillowcase and a breakout along my hairline. Next time I’ll opt for a showercap before hitting the hay, because it did leave my hair in great shape for a week and gave me relief from my dry and itchy scalp.
